Pottery Barn Sells Peanut Butter??

Ha!  Made you look.  I don’t really think Pottery Barn is selling PB these days actually, but I did just get my new Pottery Barn catalog in the mail and began leafing through it while I was enjoying my incredible Almond Butter sammy (post forthcoming) when I stumbled upon this adorable farmhouse ceramic PB Pot!

How cute is that?  I mean, who isn’t in dire need of an over-sized, pretend vintage PB jar to hold their freshly cut flower arrangements??  The caption actually reads, “Country general stores once stored perishables in thick earthen jars like these…Use the large uncovered Peanut Butter Pot as casual kitchen storage or as a cachepot for plants.” Hilarious!  I totally love how Pottery Barn blends the old-fashioned with modern superior quality and durability.  They come up with some outrageous decoration sometimes, but then they always seem to be able to pull it off so beautifully…

Gasp!  The PB Pot actually looks gorgeous with this rustic pine and wicker ‘Summer’ dining set.  How do they do that?  Anyone want to buy me the PB Pot?  It’s only $49.00….

BTW : I am being slightly facetious ;-)

Sammy of the Week : PB Sushi

I realize that I did not post a “Sammy of the Week” for the past two weeks!  What is wrong with me?!  Well, two weeks ago I was sooo overwhelmed with excitement from the spot on the TODAY SHOW and last week was St. Patrick’s Day and I was literally on my deathbed, sicker than I have ever been in my life!  I thought I was getting better but didn’t and am just now finally realizing that I am not going to die – I will eventually be 100% again.  Someday.

Until then, I just made up this incredible snack/Sammy/dessert…PB Sushi Rolls!  My Aunt Nanette had seen a similar version on Jessica Simpson’s twitter page back in January but it was totally unhealthy.  Jessica Simpson copied that idea from Pete Wentz or something like that…. Anywho, she called her creation a ‘Dream Dessert Sushi Roll’.  Jessica’s tweet says, “strawberry fruit roll up, PB&J with rice krispies…roll it up and enjoy :)

When Nanette heard about this she thought it could be such a fun idea to try with Krema PB!  Mmmm!  I agreed and finally I went last night to the store to buy the necessary ingredients for my PB Sushi Rolls.  I fully intended on purchasing the ingredients to make the exact same sushi rolls that Jessica Simpson had made and then making my own healthy version and compare the two.  At the store, I collected everything I needed and re-examined all of my items before heading to the check-out line.  I somewhat remorsefully report that I literally could NOT bring myself to buy Jessica’s ingredients!   The unpronounceable, chemical-filled ingredient lists were astounding!  Even the Rice Krispies!  High Fructose Corn Syrup?  In puffs of rice?  Is that really necessary?  Honestly.  What a disappointment.

I returned home with these two items…

Both are fabulous products.  Totally healthy, all-natural goodness and great taste.  Perfect compliments to our single ingredient – Krema PB!

Here’s how I made my yummilicious PB Sushi rolls…

Take a Smooshed Strawberry Fruit Flat, lay it on your plate.  Spread a generous layer of all-natural Krema PB (I used crunchy) all over one side of the Fruit Flat.  Then pour a handful of Crispy Brown Rice across the top – roll up like a sushi and eat it!  What a treat!PB Sushi

(Ignore the un-manicured fingernails and the ugly bandage on my thumb, evidence of the hazards of having children.  This phtoto is probably too yucky to post but I don’t have a better one – we scarfed these PB Sushi Rolls down soooo quickly :0)PB Sushi

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Our PB office is in the same building as my mom’s candy store – The Sister’s Sweet Shoppe.  They sell gourmet nuts, high quality chocolates, candies, all varieties of our PB of course, holiday baskets and even FRUITCAKE!  Yes, people really do eat fruitcake.  But if they aren’t eating OUR fruitcake then they are wasting their calories because our fruitcake is legit.  No garbage – just the good stuff.  Plus some of it comes dipped in chocolate!  HELLO!  Well, my mom and her sister Nanette have dubbed themselves the ‘Fruitcake Sisters’ and have become somewhat of a local icon around town…catalog photos 2007 012

Anyways, our PB office/candy store is located in Historic Downtown Dublin, Ohio and every year the City of Dublin puts on a large St. Patrick’s Day celebration with parties, music, contests and a fabulous St. Patrick’s Day parade!  And it just happens to be THAT time of year once again!  ST. Paddy’s Day!  This is a BIG BIG deal for us here in DUBLIN !!!  (ohio ;0)  This year the parade was on Saturday but unfortunately, the weather was a bit of a downer (light drizzle all morning).  I don’t have pictures of our float this year so until then – here are some great photos of us from last year’s parade…

Grandma_s_sweet_ride

This is my adorable Grandma standing next to our beautiful boat float.  We won the “Best Commercial Float” contest in 2008 & 2009!  My creative mother actually spent hours making those awesome green and white paper flowers that are decorating the boat float.  Aren’t they gorgeous?  She is sooooo talented !!

All_decked_outOn the left is Danny our ‘Warehouse Nut’ who so willingly always wears our frog costume…funny thing is, I think he secretly LOVES being the Dublin Frog!  Next is my Aunt Nanette (in her St. Patrick’s Day Fruitcake Sister costume) then in the center is my tiny, adorable Grandmother in her Grandma’s Fruitcakes costume, then my mom (in her St. Patrick’s Day Fruitcake Sister costume) and on the far right is my cousin Lincoln sporting a “Vote for The Sisters” t-shirt, y’know like the shirts from Napoleon Dynamite?   {claim to fame : someone in my nutty family actually KNOWS Napoleon Dynamite (aka Jon Heder) and she knows him well too :-) } Down in front is my youngest sweetie-bug cousin who is never afraid to dress up crazy and cheer for the Fruitcake Sisters!  Whereas I probably would have been mortified to be associated with these nutty ladies when I was her age, she is stellar and one of their biggest fans!  I think I’m coming around though…and so has my super fun sister Stephanie…

Vote_for_the_SistersStephanie (on the left) brought two of her roommates to the parade and had them dress up for the festivities also!!  Everything was so successful and fun.  What a fabulous Holiday!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Choc Chip Cupcakes W/ Krema PB Frosting

I think ya’ll may be wondering where in the world I have run off too (or then again, maybe you haven’t noticed that I haven’t been around ;) ) …in any case the truth of the matter is that I haven’ run anywhere.  I have in fact been just a few feet away from my computer for the past 5 days straight – I’ve been sick in bed!  Well, I guess not the whole time.  But my girls each took a night or two sick with the stomach flu and then my husband and I were sick as well!  Gross!  Before I go into more details than necessary and you begin to feel sick yourself, let me tell you what my cousin Meryn and her adorable daughter were whipping up this weekend… Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Krema PB Frosting!195

Meryn said she first got this idea when she was watching the Food Network and saw these beauties on display…

Since Meryn is a busy mom she decided to try this PB Frosting recipe on some of her own chocolate cupcakes.  The results were fabulous!  Her family couldn’t stop eating them!  198

Here’s the Krema PB frosting recipe…

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (Uh, that is KREMA PB, of course ;-) )
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
Place the confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix on medium-low speed until creamy, scraping down the bowl with a rubber spatula as you work. Add the cream and beat on high speed until the mixture is light and smooth.  You can get the Food Network’s original cupcake recipe here.

Meryn added her own special touch by throwing in a handful of chocolate chips to the cupcake batter just before placing them in the oven. What a clever girl!  I love it!  I can’t wait until I’m feeling better myself…you KNOW I will be trying this recipe out!!

I believe I’m finally on the mend…see ya’ll soon :-)

p.s.  Meryn is my Aunt Nanette’s youngest daughter.  Just to keep our Nutty Family Tree in perspective.
I told you we are all nuts about Krema PB!!!
