Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Our PB office is in the same building as my mom’s candy store – The Sister’s Sweet Shoppe.  They sell gourmet nuts, high quality chocolates, candies, all varieties of our PB of course, holiday baskets and even FRUITCAKE!  Yes, people really do eat fruitcake.  But if they aren’t eating OUR fruitcake then they are wasting their calories because our fruitcake is legit.  No garbage – just the good stuff.  Plus some of it comes dipped in chocolate!  HELLO!  Well, my mom and her sister Nanette have dubbed themselves the ‘Fruitcake Sisters’ and have become somewhat of a local icon around town…catalog photos 2007 012

Anyways, our PB office/candy store is located in Historic Downtown Dublin, Ohio and every year the City of Dublin puts on a large St. Patrick’s Day celebration with parties, music, contests and a fabulous St. Patrick’s Day parade!  And it just happens to be THAT time of year once again!  ST. Paddy’s Day!  This is a BIG BIG deal for us here in DUBLIN !!!  (ohio ;0)  This year the parade was on Saturday but unfortunately, the weather was a bit of a downer (light drizzle all morning).  I don’t have pictures of our float this year so until then – here are some great photos of us from last year’s parade…

Grandma_s_sweet_ride

This is my adorable Grandma standing next to our beautiful boat float.  We won the “Best Commercial Float” contest in 2008 & 2009!  My creative mother actually spent hours making those awesome green and white paper flowers that are decorating the boat float.  Aren’t they gorgeous?  She is sooooo talented !!

All_decked_outOn the left is Danny our ‘Warehouse Nut’ who so willingly always wears our frog costume…funny thing is, I think he secretly LOVES being the Dublin Frog!  Next is my Aunt Nanette (in her St. Patrick’s Day Fruitcake Sister costume) then in the center is my tiny, adorable Grandmother in her Grandma’s Fruitcakes costume, then my mom (in her St. Patrick’s Day Fruitcake Sister costume) and on the far right is my cousin Lincoln sporting a “Vote for The Sisters” t-shirt, y’know like the shirts from Napoleon Dynamite?   {claim to fame : someone in my nutty family actually KNOWS Napoleon Dynamite (aka Jon Heder) and she knows him well too :-) } Down in front is my youngest sweetie-bug cousin who is never afraid to dress up crazy and cheer for the Fruitcake Sisters!  Whereas I probably would have been mortified to be associated with these nutty ladies when I was her age, she is stellar and one of their biggest fans!  I think I’m coming around though…and so has my super fun sister Stephanie…

Vote_for_the_SistersStephanie (on the left) brought two of her roommates to the parade and had them dress up for the festivities also!!  Everything was so successful and fun.  What a fabulous Holiday!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

PB No-Bake Kisses

This is what my currently sleeping husband and children will see in the morning when they wake up on Valentine’s Day…IMG_0049

Cute right?  Let me explain.  My dad is a little “crazy” about more than one thing.  Besides PB & Chocolate (and a few other things;-)) he LOVES to celebrate!  Holidays, Anniversaries, Birthdays or other special occasions – he loves to celebrate them all!  My mother, my sister and I have been the fortunate beneficiaries of his ‘celebration obsession’ for years!**  That being said, the flowers, teddy bears and boxes of chocolates above are Valentine’s Day presents from my dad (Crazy Richard) to my girls (his only granddaughters).  Isn’t he awesome??  The only thing I can really take credit for are these…IMG_0048

PB No-Bake Kisses! Yum!  Here’s what you do…

Ingredients:
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 stick oleo (shortening)
3 T. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. Krema creamy PB
3 c. oats

-Boil sugar, milk, oleo, cocoa and vanilla for 1 minute.  (Tip : shortening = gross in my cookbook so I ALWAYS use butter, which may cause some added difficulty making these kisses but in the end flavor is more important to me than presentation)IMG_0035
-Remove from heat
-Stir in PB and oatsIMG_0039
-Cut equal sized squares of aluminum foil and wax paper placing wax paper on top
-Place globs of oat mixture onto wax paper to cool and hardenIMG_0040

-Before these get too hard (just a few quick mins) fold up wax paper and foil into pyramid shape and place love note in the top (I used folded tissue paper)
-Then mold the foil around the glob of oat mixture until its shaped like a Hershey’s Kiss!  Viola!

Now I forgot the wax paper tonight (oops!) so my kisses aren’t going to be so easy to eat.  Oh well.  I have made these before with PB rice krispy treats and they worked awesomely.  Maybe for Father’s Day…

**Funny story about Crazy Richard: when my husband and I were first married my dad continued to be the wonderful, “crazy” dad that he is and sent me flowers and such for every Holiday and milestone in my life.  My poor husband just couldn’t compete!  Eventually my mother told my dad he needed to let the new man in my life be the one to buy me flowers.  That kind of was a little bit of a rough time for my dad…until I had my first little girl!  She turned into my very lucky replacement, and now I have two adorable girls who have been able to reap the benefits of Crazy Richard’s ‘celebration obsession’!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

First Ever “Sammy of the Week”

Happy New Year All!  And what better way to ring in the New Year than to start a recurring “Sammy of the Week” post!?!  From Missy at missymaintains.com our first ever “Sammy of the Week” is…

Creamy & Crunchy PB & J Pita!

To recreate Missy’s PB & J Pita, start with two whole wheat pitas lying face up.  Lather one side generously with Crazy Richard’s Creamy PB and then the other side with Crazy Richard’s Crunchy PB.

Then add a layer of your favorite jelly on top of the creamy PB side – combine, slice and enjoy!

We just love that Missy adores our PB so much that she had to use both creamy and crunchy PBs in the same sammy!

And P.S. “Sammy” is our way of saying “sandwich” here at Krema Products…in case anyone was a little confused about that :-)

PB Hot Cocoa

Merry Chritsmas all!  While you are sitting around enjoying your friends and family, why don’t you whip up some of this amazing PB Hot Cocoa!  Here’s what you do…

Combine milk, your favorite hot cocoa mix, a dollop of Marshmallow Fluff, and a generous scoop of Krema Creamy PB into Mr. Coffee’s fabulous Cocomotion Hot Cocoa Maker – then press the start button!  Wait a few minutes, then pour out perfectly stirred and warmed PB Hot Cocoa into a festive mug and enjoy!

The best thing about this easy recipe is that it is adaptable to every situation…

-Do you live in a warm climate?  Just mix all ingredients in a blender with some ice!  Voila!  Frozen PB Cocoa!
-Want a little peppermint flavor? Use a candy cane to stir with or pour in a little peppermint extract!
-Love dark chocolate?  Easy!  Add some dark chocolate cocoa mix!
-Don’t like marshmallows?  Forget the Fluff!
-Out of milk?  Use water and add a little cream to thicken!
-Top with whatever you’ve got…whipped cream, chocolate chips, shaved chocolate, or enjoy with a little Buckeye Crunch on the side!

Just make sure to share your PB Hot Cocoa with loved ones this Holiday Season!  Once again, Merry Christmas :-)
